Memorial Day Weekend

Can we say relaxing!!!!! Cliff came off of working 4 days non-stop from being off 9 days from vacation. Anyhow job was way down in Johnson County, started everyday at 6am, some days earlier, worked until 10ish every night, with Cliff getting home around 11:30ish. My hubby was just plain tired!!! So I honored his request and we relaxed. We missed Carla's (Cliffs sister) birthday dinner Friday night and Taylor's (Justin & Amanda Glenn's) 1st birthday party on Saturday.

We watched movies, grilled out, vegged out, layed out, swam, working in the yard, etc. Which are all things we enjoyed doing together!
So for the movie side of things:

Mall Cop - Cute, corny, but made me laugh!
Valkyrie - history buff movie - Cliff enjoyed, I tuned out ofcourse.
Bride Wars - Loved it! Super cute movie! Thanks for recommending Amy!
So that concludes our 3 day weekend! Have a great week everyone!!! 4 day work week! Woo-hoo!!!

Vacation in a nutshell

Our happily ever after continues on into 2 years!!! Wow crazy how fast married life flies! We celebrated our 2nd anniversary/honeymoon by us both taking off a week from work and spending quality time together.

So here is our week in a nutshell!!!

Monday - Rain, rain go away!!! Well the day started rainy so we slept in and decided to make that day our errand running day. We had lunch at our favorite fast food place, Chick-fi-la. After leaving there we headed to Bankston Ford to get one of my seats worked on. Lucky us, we got put in a Ford Focus! Yeah it was hilarious! Cliff is 6'4" and tried to drive out of there in this wind up car. No offense to anyone, but not a good combination for my man. We had to pick up my ring that was being repaired in Plano, then decided to hit up the mall. I have been needing new glasses so we decided to look around. We found the perfect ones at the Oakley Store, they are super cute. I should have them in a few days actually! The coolest part of our mall trip besides new eyewear, is we were able to park in the "compact car" parking spot! Picture attached for proof!!! Picked up our car and thankfully, they factory never sprayed the seat with some sort of lubricant (and yes it stunk REALLY bad) so my seat wouldn't go down. Ford makes me so happy one moment and irritated the next. To top the day Cliff and I stopped by Best Buy and he bought me a new camera!!! Yes a new one that takes awesome pictures!! We went with a Canon and absolutely love it so far! I feel like a photographer, just wish some days I had more to take!

Tuesday - We slept in and the coolest part was Cliff layed in bed keeping still just so I could sleep! And the first words he spoke were Happy Anniversary!!! i made him French Toast for a breakfast in bed treatment! I got a pedicure by my wonderful nail chicky, Shayne, and got this wonderful turquoise color. Its rockin!!! We stopped by Cabela's on our way to Downtown Fort Worth and I got Cliff a game camera! Got a super deal on it too!!! We then arrived downtown. We had dinner at the Reata http://www.reata.net/. I would described it as cowboy cuisine with a country/western sizzle! Food was excellent!!! We both got steak.. Cliff got a buffalo ribeye and I got a tenderloin and a lobster tail. Delicious!!! We ended the night walking around downtown and sitting at 8.0 talking and just looking back on our great times together.

Wednesday - Sunday: We literally worked our booty's off extending our patio with flagstone! It looks wonderful and will be great this summer! We also broke out the kiddie pool to relax in on the hots days!!! We both got way too much sun in the process.

Bare with me too.. pics are not in order but they will make sense.. Sorry!
New Flower Bed - Hoe'd by both, planted with love by me!

Happily Ever After Anniversary #2

I can't believe tomorrow is my 2nd anniversary of being married to Cliff. I am blessed beyond measures that God saved him especially for me. Looking forward to many, many more as our fairy tale continues on...

Believe it or not, we really can learn something about marriage from fairy tales.

1. Love with all your heart.
Cinderella and Prince Charming loved with all their hearts. The key to loving your spouse completely is by first loving God. 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' Matthew 22:37 NIV God created love. Only through loving Him with all our hearts and minds can we truly know how to love our spouse.

2. Know there are wicked stepsisters who will try to steal your happiness.
Anastasia and Drizella were Cinderella’s evil stepsisters. They would stop at nothing to steal Cinderella’s happiness. They more or less cared nothing about Cinderella, but were consumed with concern for themselves. Satan will place evil stepsisters or “little foxes” in your path. He wants nothing more than to destroy your marriage. Catch for us the foxes, the little foxes that ruin the vineyards, our vineyards that are in bloom. Song of Solomon 2:15 NIV Just be on watch.
3. Recognize your differences.
When the prince finally found Cinderella, she was dressed in rags working as a servant in her own home. In a time where family and prestige meant everything, the prince didn’t scoff and turn his back on Cinderella. He recognized their differences and looked beyond them. Her experiences there would make her more compassionate and understanding to the townspeople in her role as princess and someday queen. Sometimes the very things that draw us to someone, later drives us crazy. God made each of us different. Men and women eat different, sleep different, dress different, and communicate different. Let your strengths and weaknesses fold together like clasped hands. Your differences will actually make you stronger as a couple. You’ll each have a different area of expertise.

4. Do whatever it takes.
After dancing with the woman of his dreams, the prince found himself alone as the clock struck midnight. He was left with nothing but a shoe and a memory. Having only met Cinderella once, the prince could have easily given up and moved on. Instead, he stopped at nothing to find his true love. Every home was visited until the identity of the crystal slipper wearer was discovered. Life is hard. Marriage takes effort. You can’t just say “I do,” and then don’t. You really have to do something. Work at meeting your true loves needs and keeping the spark alive.
Take sometime this week to focus on your happily ever after. You’ll be so glad you did.

Moms, One of Life's Biggest Blessings

I wanted to take time and send out a special to all the mommy's out there and especially dedicate to my own mama! Words can't describe how much goes into the creation of a mom. They are always here for us when we are down, they are there to lift us up, they teach us to be the people were grow to be, they cheer us on and more than anything show us unconditional love. Each and everyone is unique in their own way. I have several friends who are mommy's and cherish their prince and princesses. I have a mother n law, Cliff's mom, and she has her own unique-ness about herself and Cliff and I both love her too. My grandmama Baker because she went into the creation of my mom and chose her out of so many children at Buckner's Childrens home. My mom was the diamond mixed in with all the rhinestones and had the sparkled that shined for the future. Though I never met my mom's biological mom, I know she was an incredible woman, because she gave to me my best friend!

I know that I am my mom's babydoll that she always wanted as a little girl and never had. She grew up with little, yet grew into a woman who pours her heart out to anyone she touches. My mom raised me in a Christian home and to always love one another. She always loved me so much and did ALL that she could do for me. She enrolled me in summer camps to bond with others and create friendships. She took me to Animal Crackers in Plano t so that I was a sassy little girl. She sought out everything she could do to help me when I was diagnosed with the learning disability, aphasia. She always went the extent to find me a place to swin in the summers, since I loved to swim and play in the pooll. She allowed me to take dance, piano, play soccer, basketball, softball and gymnastics. She came to all of my games and meets. She traveled the long distance to my state powerlifting meet and cheered me on. She encouraged me in a parent role when I thought life wasn't good. She used the tough love role as a teenager which I cherish from the bottom of my heart today. She supported me in all my college days. She spent her Galleria gold that she won on me and not herself. She bought me shoes just because they were cute and knew I loved them. Shes my favorite shopping partner. She landed me my job in a unique way. She taught me right from wrong. She encouraged me to reach for the stars and never settle for less in any aspect in life. She let me know when I found the perfect man, which is now my husband. She allowed me to have the Cinderella/Fairytale wedding of my dreams. She is my rock, my cheerleader, my inspiration and the woman I truly admire and cherish.

MY MOM IS THE DIAMOND IN MY CROWN AND SHE GIVES ME THE EXTRA SPARKLE EACH AND EVERY DAY IN MY LIFE!!! I LOVE YOU MOM AND HOPE YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!!!

How time flies. This time a year ago I had broken my ankle and placed into the PINK cast!!!

I am so thankful for so many things that kept me from having surgery and going on with my life. Dr. Carpenter was wonderful in the process and so encouraging too. Cliff was a HUGE blessing around the house. I couldn't work in my flower beds for a while and mow the grass. Yes I do enjoy mowing the grass. I think its the OCD of making straight lines. Cliff did so much for me and managed to work 100+ hours a week too. He made dinner, did the laundry, cleaned for me, watered my flowers, mowed the yard, brought me Sonic Diet Cokes to my office, wrapped my leg so I could take a bath, allowed for the room to be like 65 degrees (yes having a cast is SOOOO hot), allowed for us to buy a wagon for the camping trip to pull me, unloaded and loaded our entire car for the camping trip, pulled me up the hill numerous times so I could go pee, showered in the ladies bathroom (HAHA) and most of all LOVED ME and TOOK CARE of me!!!! And then Amy, Holly and Shandi and dealing with the work boot! Oh yes the boot that actually caused a toe-nail to go BLACK!!! Sorry!!! And for the night in the kiddie pool and still being able to enjoy the good times!
Here are some pics of the time of the cast, crutches and the work boot!!!!
Camping at Lake Cooper - oh and the hellacious hill
